Daiwa Sea Power 1200 Electric Reels

The Sea Power 1200 is the workhorse value in big electrics: a Marine Power 3000-class brushed motor and oversized planetary gearing driving 66 lb (30 kg) of ATD drag, at a price hundreds below the reels it competes with. It's a proven dropper for everything from deep rockfish to the elusive swordfish: 1,400 yards of 60 lb J-Braid (1,100 yards of 80 lb) is genuine daytime-sword capacity.

Power without the price

Daiwa rates the custom brushed motor at roughly 1.3× the power and speed of same-size predecessors, and it winds 140 m/min at no load through 2.1:1 gearing, 23.3" per crank by hand on the 80 mm aluminum handle. Ten ball bearings keep it turning; the ATD drag adjusts to the pull of the fish and holds smooth under long, heavy pressure.

Rigged for real trips

The oversized 6 mm line guide passes swivels and connections when you wind a rig onto the spool, the SYNCHRO LEVEL WIND lays line evenly, and the dot LCD counter reads in feet or meters, in nine display languages. Auto-stop with adjustable boat-side stop (1-5 m), line feeding, inverse counter, chumming timer, depth correction, and a fishing-history log are all built in, and a rod clamp and heavy-duty power cord come in the box.

Runs on DC 12-16.8 V. A Daiwa electric-reel battery is the recommended source; it will not run on household AC or 24 V boat power.
