Avet MXJ G2 6/4 MC Two Speed Reels

The MXJ G2 6/4 MC is the narrow-spool MX with everything switched on (two speeds and magnetic cast control), and it is the one to buy if you genuinely do more than one thing with it. It fishes the same live-bait rods as an SX and takes 470 yards of 50 lb braid. Load it 40 lb braid with a topshot, or straight 50 lb to keep it simple. The spool holds plenty of 50 lb braid, and most people run heavier braid under a lighter leader anyway, so a break-off takes the leader and not the expensive braid.

On a jig it does something better still: tension the fall and the jig hangs vertical instead of planing away, so it gets down faster and stays in the zone you meant to fish. Shift to 6.3:1 to wind an iron back; drop to 3.8:1 when a fish makes you earn it.
