Avet MXJ G2 5.8 Single Speed Reels

The MXJ G2 5.8 is the narrow-spool MX in its simplest form, one gear at 5.8:1 over 470 yards of 50 lb braid, no magnet, and nothing to shift. A single speed is a deliberate choice rather than a cheaper one: it suits someone who already knows the one job he wants the reel to do, and at 40 lb and under that job is usually flylining bait.

The narrow “J” frame is the other half of it. It is taller and skinnier than a standard MX spool on the same internals, which gives a faster retrieve per crank and makes line far easier to guide back on evenly, and that second part matters more than people expect after a long day.
