Avet Pro EX 80/3 Three Speed Reels

The three-speed 80 retrieves like a light-line sailfish reel (55 inches a crank at 4:1), except it is fishing 130 lb, and it drops to a true 1:1 when things stop. The fast gear resets a long-soaked bait quickly and picks up kite slack; the 1:1 turns the head of whatever is on the other end. The one rail case at this size: a handful of guys run a dedicated kite 80 (SoCal bluefin and long-range yellowfin) on an Invictus or Gladiator-level rod. That is the only time you will see one on a rail.
