Avet JX 3/S WINCH Lever Drag Jigging Reels

When Harry, one of Avet's owners, came back from a Panama trip that called for a heavy-drag jigging reel to stop big yellowfin tuna, the Winch was the answer. It's a JX-size lever drag built for one job: jigging tuna and other bruisers with more stopping power than anything else in its class.

The headline is the drag. The Winch runs a patented triple carbon-fiber drag stack that puts out 45 lb at strike and 70 lb at full: nearly double what most reels this size can muster. Back that with a three-speed gearbox, 6:1 high for picking up line, a 3:1 middle, and a 2:1 low "winch" gear for cranking a fish up under heavy pressure, and you've got a compact reel that fights well above its weight.

It's purpose-built for jigging, so Avet left off what you don't need on a jig stick: no clicker and no MC cast control. It ships with the larger T-knob power handle for leverage when you're grinding on a hot fish. Everything else is pure Avet, a true one-piece 6061-T6 aluminum frame machined and anodized in Chatsworth, California, precision stainless gears, the ratcheting glide plate and strike-stop, and Avet's silent, indestructible dog-and-gear anti-reverse.

Rated for 50-100 lb line and holding 300 yards of 100 lb braid or ~400 of 80lb, it's ready for deep jigs and big tuna. Avet publishes 400 yards of 100 lb here, but the Winch shares its spool with the other JX models, which Avet rates at 400 yards of 65 lb, and heavier line takes more room, not less. 300 is the honest number.
