The Beast 400 is Abu Garcia's big-bait workhorse, a large-format low-profile baitcaster built around cranking power, a heavy drag, and serious line capacity, yet still compact enough to palm. Abu Garcia redesigned the series for anglers throwing oversized baits (muskie gear and big swimbaits up north); on the SoCal coast it's a natural for big swimbaits, glide baits, and heavier inshore work where a standard low-profile runs short on line and drag.

It's built on an X2-Cräftic aluminum frame and handle sideplate for stiffness under load, with an asymmetric body that keeps a 400-size reel easy to hold. The Power Stack Carbon Matrix drag lays down up to 31 lb of stopping power on the 6.2:1 HS models (25 lb on the 4.8:1), with an audible drag clicker. The oversized brass Duragear Gen III gearing is built to grind, and seven stainless HPCR bearings plus a roller keep it smooth. The Infini brake system helps you launch heavy baits without backlash, and a 105 mm bowed aluminum handle with oversized knobs gives you the leverage to turn big fish. Available in 4.8:1 for maximum torque or 6.2:1 for faster line pickup, left- or right-hand retrieve.
